Jurassic

A shoot on the Jurassic Coast this week - an amazing location, and a swim in the sea at the end of the working day... Could get used to that!

Elizabethan Inspired

This postcard reminded me of an editorial I shot a couple of years ago, showcasing the Elizabethan inspired graduate collection by the very talented Rose Wooderson. I seem to be having a very unintentional Tudor fascination with recent blog posts...

Dedication to a theme

I came across this 1997 Vogue shoot for the first time recently and was struck by how painterly these images look. Grave Coddington is the styling brains behind the story, with Steven Meisel behind the lens. I was totally captivated by these opulent, rich images - so different from the very natural and pared back editorials that are popular at the moment.
Coddington and Meisel have really captured the spirit of the roaring 1920s in America, when a sudden economic and industrial boom changed the way society behaved. The 'new woman' appeared on the scene - complete with a new wardrobe. For me this story by Coddington is so great because even though many of the clothes are contemporary, they are styled in a way that doesn't 'sell' them. I doubt many American Vogue readers rushed out and bought a feather boa. Instead this fashion editorial is dedicated to an age

Seeing Red

The best non-festive, festive shoot I've seen by a mile in Twin Magazine
Just what my Christmas looks like.
Beautifully shot by Rory Payne and styled by Verity Parker

Blue Rinse

I shot a Denim story last week out and about round Angel - my room was decked out in blue for the days surrounding the shoot.

Was tempted to get trussed up like Sisey Spacek in Badlands and do a runner with my beautiful but borrowed clothes

One of my favourite films, I love Tessa's write up of it HERE. Results from what I actually did with my denim loot coming soon...

Wallpaper

My kind of wallpaper at The Roost, a location I was working at earlier this week
And my kind of Burberry jacket, if only it wasn't the most impractical jacket for me in the world

Gathering Gold

I have been gathering jewels for an up and coming shoot and am reminded of the many heart shaped pieces of jewellery I have...
I have started deconstructing the various pieces of neglected tat that I've picked up over the years and making new versions of them. My favourite trick is adding hearts to my gold hoops
Turns out it's quite hard to take a picture of your own ear.

Winter Dance

A busy morning spent yesterday, restyling looks for winter with our fave model... This was towards the end of the shoot when posing got a bit boring and dancing took over.

Plastic Casings

I've written about plastic and perspex before, especially after purchasing a plastic handbag a few months ago. The trend goes far beyond accessories though, as a shoot in ES magazine, which is distributed throughout the length of London's tube trains, proved last week. I really loved this patent leather skirt by Holly Furton - it's since been ripped out and tacked to my desk's pin board.

I have to say though that given this was a shoot about sexy poolside outfits etc, the thought of wearing patent leather/plastic/perspex in the baking heat does not particularly appeal.
Imagine if some condensation suddenly appeared?! How horrifying!!! Particular danger of that with this Paule Ka skirt above I feel. Still I love both skirts, especially Ka's plastic/crochet contrast, and at least this mild Summer weather just about renders them wearable... Small consolation. Are you brave enough to bare all in plastic this summer? You can see more pictures from ES's Suit Up shoot here.

Coming Soon

Lily and I didn't have to travel far to shoot our next feature for One Off this morning...
Here is a sneak peak inside the room of the next stylish girl to step into the spotlight. Stay tuned for MUCH better pictures from Lily. I for one are really excited to see how the photos come out.

Tallulah Brown

For those that haven't seen it already, last week One Off featured Tallulah Brown, a friend and fan of One Off as well as an all round stylish and inspirational lady. The feature was really made by Lily's photos, which along with all the looks in our Outfit Gallery, are shot on film. See Tallulah's feature here, and stay tuned for the next style profile!

One Off

This week my eyes finally turned square, as one morning I spent many hours working on One Off's website. Exciting developments are afoot - one of them being our Outfit Gallery being re-shot by exciting and upcoming photographer, and fellow West Londoner, Lily Bertrand-Webb. Lily helped me see the clothes I was working with differently, and through her lens and my vision, I think we got some great results. Make sure you check it out for yourself!

There are totally new outfits, as well as previous looks under going tweaking and re-shooting for the Spring Summer collection. A particular hit has been the Dungaree Dress outfit, bottom left
Along with new photos and new outfits comes new features, such as the Outfit Booster section. This is for people who want an instant fix for an outfit they already love. The green coat above is currently showcasing its style there at the moment.

This is only the start of lots more to come from One Off... Stay tuned for more in the very near future.
