Potato Postcards

Today I made some One Off Christmas postcards to send out later this week... I can't believe I managed to practice some restraint and they're not all covered in glitter.

Jewels

Accessories are such a great way of showcasing personal style, especially pieces that look like they never come off. More to come on this topic but for now here is a snapshot of some great jewels I've long admired.

Lino Prints

There has been a distinct lack of blog posts recently as I have been working on new and exciting ventures... Here is a sneak peak of one which is due to hit the screens of One Off Style visitors in the near future, and involves a collaboration with an up and coming West London artist. Watch this space!

Leather Skirt

Following a recent post about winter essentials, it must be said that this One Off Style leather skirt has to be one of them.

Winter Dance

A busy morning spent yesterday, restyling looks for winter with our fave model... This was towards the end of the shoot when posing got a bit boring and dancing took over.

5 Autumn Style Tips

It seems it really is Autumn now. September is over, the tights have been pulled on and I have started carrying round an extra layer in my bag for when I finish work in the evenings. It's also a time when we are all thinking about our Autumn wardrobes - I accidentally won a pair of black ankle boots on ebay last night, blame Tessa - so here are my 5 picks from what One Off Style has to offer this Autumn.

1. A VERSATILE, EASY TO WEAR SKIRT

Ok so let's forget about bare legs for now. I'm not brave enough anymore. I had one too many chilly nights in beer gardens, so I am now wearing my tights with pride. Slip on some 40 derniers, a cropped jumper and a pair of ankle boots or loafers and this is an easy, stylish look you will wear and wear.

2. A PAIR OF TAILORED TROUSERS

Trousers are everywhere this Autumn, so why wear a pair that a trillion people also have? Instead snap up this one off vintage pair of tailored navy trousers with a fine white check.

I really love to layer. It's such a great way of getting lots of different looks out of essentially the same outfit. Give yourself lots of options with this Denim Button Up Dress.

I have about 1,000,000 pictures of my hands on my phone at the moment - I love my Jessie Harris/One Off ring that much. Cheer up your chilly fingers this Autumn with some new silver.

This is on the website under 'Gifts' but why not treat yourself? We all wear so much black over the colder months - break it up a bit with this flash of colour.

There is lots more to choose from at One Off Style this Autumn, so you need never be stuck for outfit inspiration! See for yourself here.

Wardrobe Raider

I am going through quite a bad phase of borrowing clothes... I have my own groaning clothes rails at home and have no shortage of things to wear, but some days all you want is something to shake up the normal run of things. Plus I have two wonderful wardrobes on tap at home so I am going to say it would be pretty hard not to be tempted.
Yesterday I wore a beautiful vintage dress of my Mum's which has a great print

Today I am wearing a jumper AND shirt of Tessa's... she busted me wearing them as she left for work this morning, so this blog post won't come as too much as a shock to her
(Sorry, couldn't resist)
But I'm also wearing a suede jacket of my Aunt's - she has actually given it to me though - which makes me look like a cowgirl. Always a great look.
These socks of Tessa's might be my fave loan so far though.
I've really got to stop all this poaching before something irremovable gets spilt on an irreplaceable garment.

Daisy Boyd

One Off's latest feature has a look inside the flat of Daisy Boyd, who has been written  about countless times on this blog. Last year Daisy did a 7 days of style for us, see here for more.

This time we learn a little more about Daisy's style and have a look around her flat, where I love to hang out whenever Daisy is in London.

Picture of Post

I was sent this lovely picture last night from a happy One Off customer, wearing a Jessie Harris ring and with one of our vintage postcards that were sent to promote our Autumn/Winter collection. So glad both have gone down well.

One Off/Jessie Harris Collaboration

This week marks an exciting development for One Off with the launch of our first ever collaboration.
Jessie Harris is a jeweller who lives and works in North London. After coming across her simple but intricate, delicate but heavy handmade jewellery, we knew we wanted to get Jessie on board.
Jessie has produced a beautiful and exclusive range for One Off, working alongside our aesthetic carefully and producing simple pieces that really are unique.
These little brass crystal bracelets are strung on silk cord and will look lovely on any wrist this autumn. A great gift - if you're not treating yourself!
I love these sterling silver rings, and they are my favourite pieces in this little capsule collection. I like how they are slightly unfinished looking - not too shiny and polished. Jessie made them by hand soldering silver wire, making each ring different to the next.
Ideally I would wear two of these silver rings together, like this:

But they also look lovely alone or stacked alongside your own ring collection. Snap one up while they're still available.
One thing I like about the autumn and winter is the chance to wear my bulging big jumper collection. But there is something a bit deflating sometimes about covering up a really nice outfit with chunky knots of wool. This necklace is just the thing to liven your outfit back up, with a chunky antique rolo chain and silver plated geometric pendant.

Time for you to weigh in this Autumn with your own One Off/Jessie Harris pieces.

Have a look here for more.

Friday Fuzz

I am ready for the weekend as today I found myself spending a lot of time staring at things. Maybe with good reason though, as I had two exciting arrivals from the postman:
A new rubber stamp. When I was little I had a bit of an obsession with stamps. I especially liked the ones that librarians had where you could change the date everyday. I don't really need one of those, but I'm tempted.
The second was the arrival of a book I ordered after a dizzingly great encounter with Bay Garnett, her book 'The Cheap Date Guide to Style'. Full post to follow. It's great.
I spent quite a lot of time looking at my rather untidy shelf stuffed full of jumpers. Is it really time for chunky knitwear? Bare legs and big jumpers might be on the agenda, as I generally dare myself not to wear tights til October
Lastly, my pin board must be feeling a bit worse for wear after I came across lots of postcards while tidying up this week. I love these lemons and oranges. Unfortunately it's a Russian postcard so I can't tell you anything about it.
Have a great weekend!

An Unlikely Couple

Frida Kahlo and Tutankhamun hanging out together on my necklace today.

One Off is about to launch its very own exclusive jewellery collection, exciting! Stay tuned for more.

Sophie Calle, The Hotel

I came across these photo montages by Sophie Calle last week when flicking through the pages of a photography book I always keep near my desk. The Hotel pictures show the various belongings of anonymous hotel guests and were captured secretly by Calle who worked as a temporary chambermaid in Venice during the early 1980s. I find these secret photographs so intriguing as I'm interested in all the different parts that make up who someone is. Clothes, jewellery etc are so central to this, which is one of the reasons I enjoy doing One Off's Style Profiles so much. And so my book tells me: 'The importance of Calle's art has been to raise questions about just what it is that interests us: the ordinary fabric of other people's lives'.

Lace Ups

I love this trainers currently moonlighting on One Off's Outfit Booster page. Worn with bare legs while the autumn permits and with a pair of jeans when it get's colder, these trainers are a definite great buy.
