Fabric

More fabric and sewing related endeavours... spent a few days in Shepherd's Bush recently, getting the step count up incredibly high pacing up and down the market. My favourite place!

Weekend Highlights

Great kicks and rucksack in Kensal Rise
Prayer mats and bath loofers side by side in my local pound shop.

Fluff

This week's wonder of the market:
FLUFF
No not the delicious marshmallow sweet treats, but these:
What are they? What are they for? Does anyone ever buy one?
I was tempted but I literally had no inspiration (yet) as to what I could do with it.

Window Shopping, Take Two

I wrote a blog post about this beaded collar a few months back, which I saw in the window of a fabric shop in Shepherd's Bush. It's now featuring as a great addition to this ready made dress, which kind of looks like a mini skirt with the reflection of my legs and coat in the window.

January Colour

I enjoyed these splashes of colour over the weekend, pre sleet and snow. Including pins for head scarfs
glittery ribbon
and the world's most enormous hair clips ever!!
Surely almost bigger than most people's heads.

MADE IN INDIA

Yesterday while I was on the look out for presents for other people... I managed to find myself this bit of sparkly hot pink chiffon, picked from a cardboard box full of scrap fabric in the market. I really love it, although not sure what I'm going to use it for.

Window Shopping

These prayer beads are a new addition to a fabric shop on Uxbridge Road, which is also opposite a Mosque. There are so many great variations. I also really like this necklace/collar from the same place, but I'd definitely look like a massive jerk wearing it.

Rainbow Dresses

I've always thought Hervé Léger dresses look slightly like extra skin tight bandages... in a good way? These rainbow numbers from 1995 are kinda great though.
A friend of mine went to a private view at The Tate recently, which she said she enjoyed but wished she'd worn black... I can relate to that entirely, but at heart I think we will both always love a bit of rainbow

Sparkle

I caught up with a long lost friend today. And she had a great new purse
We strolled down a blustery Shepherd's Bush Market, and resisted temptation from every sparkly, sequined corner. Why this child's outfit doesn't come in grown up sizes is beyond me:
More beads sparkled away on veils attached to hair slides:
I wish there was someway of wearing a feather bower, cos they really speak to me on some level
These SOMALI and BARBIE necklaces, less so
I did however get one small keepsake from the trip. A little ring which I was subsequently told looks like a mobile phone

Very hard to leave unadorned from the market.

Coming Soon

Lily and I didn't have to travel far to shoot our next feature for One Off this morning...
Here is a sneak peak inside the room of the next stylish girl to step into the spotlight. Stay tuned for MUCH better pictures from Lily. I for one are really excited to see how the photos come out.

Lace Laces

And the obsession with laces continues... I bought the lace and ribbon above from my favourite fabric shop in Shepherd's bush yesterday. My £12.99 flatforms may need replacing soon, but I'm hoping I can keep breathing new life into them with a series of fancy ribbons.

Gowns

I like the sassy feathered dressing gown alongside the African prints. An unusual (but great) pyjama set. My day off was made even nicer today by an impromptu lunch with my brother. We couldn't help but feel sorry for this lone elf in an empty igloo in West 12.

Urban Leopard

I really enjoyed a more unusual display in Shepherd's bush market yesterday - this leopard print cape hung under the tube bridge and next to a fruit and vegetable stall.
Other feline related spots - this hat in a £1 shop. So very odd, I feel sorry for that little cat trapped under the cellophane.
The lights have gone up in the market which is always so exciting. I appreciate the understated decoration, which could not be more different in comparison to where I work:
There is something pretty great about an over-sized reindeer made out of fake grass and covered in fairy lights though, I do admit that.
