Picnics on the road

Boiled eggs and portable tin of salt... what more could you ask for? Also love my vintage embroidered napkins from ebay - bought as inspiration when thinking about embroidering my own. Watch this space!

Slowly starting the wardrobe swap over (last mentioned here). My favourite t-shirt of all time really comes in to its own during the summer months: a 1991 Neil Young Crazy Horse tour t-shirt. I LOVE everything about it - how it's faded and soft from time and washing, the artwork, Neil Young, and that I've inherited it from my Mum.

Sofa

So many things to moan about with a huge white leather sofa (it came with my furnished flat), but at least it's big enough for me to cover with various thrifted and homemade throws and cushions. My recent granny square blanket is a favourite charity shop purchase.

Treasure hunt

As a stylist I'm always sourcing clothing - whether it's for me or a shoot often gets a bit tricky if I find any real treasure. This was such brilliant shop in Liverpool, lovingly curated and looked after by an elderly gentleman who was listening to Bjork while I sheltered from the rain and perused his rails.

Pink Sequins

Charity shop updates: a new bed throw and two essentials for the styling kit....
Thank you, Hammersmith!

Blue Paint

An out take from my shoot for The Ones 2 Watch
Phillipine is wearing the kind of dirtied old leather trench that only a beautiful and chic Parisian like herself, can get away with. Still, it's been in my wardrobe for years and I don't see it going anywhere....

Beaded Mules

So bad they're good? In my mind they are anyway....
Can't really see when I would wear these bad boys but where there's a will there's a way.
Bought for £2 in Traid, Shepherd's Bush

Paisley Amber

This amber ring of my Mum's means business. Mum found the piece of amber and then got it made into a ring years ago in Camborne, Cornwall. I am borrowing it at the moment, and really love it with my 70s paisley teired dress. Which actually reminds me of Ferrero Rocher wrappers for some reason...really not sure why...
Not sure it's working with the white T-shirt underneath, but it's time to get some work done and I'm too lazy to take it off.

Chiffon

I set myself the challenge of making something from practically nothing last week. I found this beautiful piece of fabric in a second hand shop in Notting Hill for £2, which was once a fully functioning top (I think). I hope I just about managed to fashion it into something wearable without having to get a needle and thread out, although there is something Egyptian Mummy about the tied chiffon/muslin vibe.

Watch

New watch found in an Age Concern charity shop one day last week. Its enormous, almost wider than my wrist. No excuse for being late now.

It really reminds me of one of Dali's melting watches. Not to be pretentious or anything...

One Off

This week my eyes finally turned square, as one morning I spent many hours working on One Off's website. Exciting developments are afoot - one of them being our Outfit Gallery being re-shot by exciting and upcoming photographer, and fellow West Londoner, Lily Bertrand-Webb. Lily helped me see the clothes I was working with differently, and through her lens and my vision, I think we got some great results. Make sure you check it out for yourself!

There are totally new outfits, as well as previous looks under going tweaking and re-shooting for the Spring Summer collection. A particular hit has been the Dungaree Dress outfit, bottom left
Along with new photos and new outfits comes new features, such as the Outfit Booster section. This is for people who want an instant fix for an outfit they already love. The green coat above is currently showcasing its style there at the moment.

This is only the start of lots more to come from One Off... Stay tuned for more in the very near future.

1st Place Second Hand

One of my biggest pleasures in life is having an hour, a ten pound note, and access to a high street full of charity shops or bustling market. For many, the idea of picking ones way through rails of often slightly smelly and crumpled second hand clothing is at the bottom of their wish list on a day off – and granted, charity shop shopping has to be done in the right mood.
For me though, the feeling of finding something amazing hidden between casts offs from Primark, something old but better than anything new on the high street because it is unique, is hard to beat. Fashion - as we are so often told - goes in circles. Flares, straight legs and cigarette pants go in and out from season to season, and yet all can be found at the same time in one charity shop. It takes time and determination, but good quality second hand buys that make any outfit instantly different and individual, will always come first place with me.

What presents itself at a market or a charity shop is choice – a look has not been preconceived for you and carefully laid out in different sections of a shop. Instead the choice is yours, and the result is, I think, always better.

Daisy in 7days

Daisy is my style goddess, and ever since our first meeting I have been admiring and equally borrowing her clothes.  I am off up north to see her soon and am very, very excited. Here are her 7 days:
Day 1
Tartan Dress - £3 shop in Manchester
Cardigan - APC
Jacket - Topshop
Boots - DMs
Day 2
Top - Topshop
Jeans - Goldsign
Shoes - flea market in Normandy
I always end up wearing a lot of black. Also, I am obsessed with socks so I like it when they show, bit tricky in the winter though, end up with freezing ankles.
Day 3

Shirt - flea market in Normandy
Old shorts
Jacket - as before
Day 4
Skirt - Josie picked this out for me in the £3 shop! Its one of my favourites I've fixed it so many times.
Necklace and badges from Preston flea market trinket stall.
I go through phases of wearing the same jewellry and I'm quite attached to my Virgin Mary pendant now.
Day 5
Skirt - Topshop
Jumper and boots - as before
Coat - Daisy's Grandmother Rose's.
The coat is amazing, don't think you can really tell from the photo but its navy blue and kind of fluffy.
Day 6
Another coat of Rose's. This one is woolly/fluffy too.
Shorts and jumper - Flea market in Normandy
Day 7
Jeans - Topshop
Jacket, jumper and boots - as before
I like how the jeans are a bit shiny and feel like I could ride a motorbike in them.

Thank you Daisy!
