Cuba 2010

This afternoon my Topshop suede jacket did me proud and earned me a compliment from my favourite stylist, Bay Garnett.
This 2010 Vogue shoot in Cuba is styled by Garnett and is stuck in one of my much loved scrapbooks somewhere - digging that out will be a fun task for the rest of the day
I am pretty sure this shoot informed my wardrobe for at least year after I first saw it. Luckily Shepherd's Bush market has no shortage of all things embellished, frilly, shiny - anything slightly over the top. I was in luck.

Sparkle

I caught up with a long lost friend today. And she had a great new purse
We strolled down a blustery Shepherd's Bush Market, and resisted temptation from every sparkly, sequined corner. Why this child's outfit doesn't come in grown up sizes is beyond me:
More beads sparkled away on veils attached to hair slides:
I wish there was someway of wearing a feather bower, cos they really speak to me on some level
These SOMALI and BARBIE necklaces, less so
I did however get one small keepsake from the trip. A little ring which I was subsequently told looks like a mobile phone

Very hard to leave unadorned from the market.

Gold: Power and Allure

Last week I went to the private view of an exhibition I have been eagerly awaiting for many months
This astonishing exhibition at The Goldsmiths' Company showcases the story of gold in Britain, with treasures dating back as far as 2,500 BC. There is so much to see and in my case, gawp at, but with free admission there's no pressure to take it all in at once.
The entrance at exhibition were quite literally paved in gold for the private view.
They really knew what they were doing back in the day, and I was amazed at how contemporary some of the oldest pieces on display looked. Topshop, eat your heart out:

Loved the beautiful Torcs, or, 'neck-rings' as Wikipedia so elegantly describes them.

Happily for me, there were so many amazing rings... This one was a definite favourite. I wish I could remember more facts and interesting things to relay here, but I was entirely bowled over by the exhibition. And of course, that had nothing to do with sisterly pride...
Well done, George

Cow Hide

It took me about a month to finally choose my new bag, bought with my Grand National winnings. The sale assistants in pretty much every shop in Westfield must have been getting so bored of seeing me struggle over the decision. I'm in love with it and find myself proudly standing around showing it off whenever I get the chance.

Collared

Loved Rosa's chain mail collar this afternoon, especially with her chunky Fisherman's jumper.

CRAZY DAISY

Was admiring Daisy a lot today. She had some real funky nail polish on, so great its called 'Gypsy Night', and this bangle that her Dad gave her from Nepal.
