Work Lunch

My work schedule at the moment means that my favourite market haunts, once frequented almost daily, are now very rarely visited at all. While this is probably a good thing for my wallet, I do miss the bargains. That is until today when an ice cream lunch break ended up looking like this
 Happy again.

Venice

I spent a few days in Venice last week where the most fun was probably had on water buses which we took endlessly up and down the grand canal... beats London's public transport in hot weather by miles.

Horseshoe for Sunshine

Horseshoes in Cornwall a few weeks ago. Fingers crossed for some sunshine this week...

Weekend Highlights

Great kicks and rucksack in Kensal Rise
Prayer mats and bath loofers side by side in my local pound shop.

Replacements

It sucks losing things, but the upside is replacing them

Both H&M

Purple Lace

Out with the white, in with the..lilac?
Kind of want to wear these lace curtains that we dyed this weekend in Cornwall.

A Posy a Day

Just back from a few days in Cornwall, where summer clothes that have long been packed away were whipped out of storage boxes and finally worn after what is probably a 5 year sojourn.
A posy a day

Unfortunately posy picking got a little bit competitive but luckily still managed to be enjoyable

Mad Woman

Am off to Cornwall for a couple of days where I am looking forward to not caring AT ALL about how strange I'm going to look in this get up:
Now I just have to hope that the weather holds out....
Have a lovely weekend one and all.

John Bulmer

Photographs of the North of England from the 1960s
I was reminded of John Bulmer's work recently by an article in a weekend paper. I love how his photographs tell a real story - often a bit of a depressing one - but are also so beautiful.

Plasticine

I love looking through old magazines and keep them for years. I find that when they are brand new there's almost too much to take in, and I always skip stuff and later discover missed gems. One point in case is a still life shoot from Vogue last year which saw jewellery on, in, hanging and spilling from household objects made from plasticine by French artist and illustrator Alexandra Bruel.

See more of Alexandra's amazing work here.

Cow Clutch

An outtake of lovely Daisy in One Off Style clobber for a shoot earlier this year... Get your cow print clutch here.

Peter, Grace and Daria

A friend of mine recently pointed me in the direction of this Peter Lindberg shoot for US Vogue back in 2011. I haven't managed to upload the pictures in order, but I love the way the photographs tell a story - a proper photo narrative. And of course, the clothes are incredible. Grace Coddington strikes again.

Veil

Love these pictures of Kate Moss by Mert and Marcus from French Vogue last year.

Sunday Shells

A trip to the fishmongers is a feast for the eyes, not just the belly.

Gathering Gold

I have been gathering jewels for an up and coming shoot and am reminded of the many heart shaped pieces of jewellery I have...
I have started deconstructing the various pieces of neglected tat that I've picked up over the years and making new versions of them. My favourite trick is adding hearts to my gold hoops
Turns out it's quite hard to take a picture of your own ear.

Gingham, Suede & Leather

Such a happy combination - and looking particularly great in Prada's Pre-Fall Campaign, shot by Steven Meisel
Love the look above particularly - think my cowgirl jacket is going to feature in lots of my outfits this year. Am also a long term fan of gingham - nothing evokes summer quite like it for me.
