Outdoor Life

A week in Cornwall catching up with family, and making the most of living outdoors! No one knows how to make the most of things quite like my Mum...

Windbreak

A cloudless day in Cornwall last week - rewarded after my first solo drive down to the South West. I like the idea of being an intrepid road tripper...

Misty Eyed

A few days in Cornwall last week visiting family - long overdue and not for long enough! Celebrating being reunited come rain or shine...

Of a theme

Painted oyster shells used as markers at fisherman shacks at Leucate Port, puffed up meringues in the market and early morning shadows in nearby Narbonne - the French know how to run with a theme.

Andalusian Still Life

A blissful trip to Southern Spain where at times everything looked like it could be a painting

Spain

A week of rest and reading... and gin and tonics and a delicious diet of beige
Lunch in Madrid at what I think is my favourite restaurant (ever).

Spain last week

Potentially my favourite meal ever - a beige (and v unfashion) one of Calamari and Cañas
Spain last week where I spent 3 nights on holiday with my Mum, enjoying a largely liquid diet. It was 42 degrees after all...

Fuerteventura

Last week Tessa and I went on our first ever all inclusive package holiday. There was lots of sunshine, swimming and German Nudists, much to our delight. It also offered the great opportunity of digging out my summer wardrobe and smugly putting it on before everyone else back home had donned theirs....

Venice

I spent a few days in Venice last week where the most fun was probably had on water buses which we took endlessly up and down the grand canal... beats London's public transport in hot weather by miles.

Mad Woman

Am off to Cornwall for a couple of days where I am looking forward to not caring AT ALL about how strange I'm going to look in this get up:
Now I just have to hope that the weather holds out....
Have a lovely weekend one and all.

Camborne, Cornwall

I am in Cornwall at the moment where it is currently so windy that I've had to wedge the front door shut with my DM. Yesterday marked a trip to Camborne, where there was many a picture worthy sight:
I almost got fleeced of my money:
I remember a phase when cool cats wore fleeces with stuff like a howling wolf and rising moon on it, in a kind of ironic Native American/Pocahontas way. This shop in Camborne is definitely the place to go to pick one up at a bargain price - or to get your own take on that trend, puppies anyone?
This really weirded me out:
A shoe horn back scratcher. Look at that mini plastic hand! The guy behind the till also waved me goodbye saying, 'GOODBYE MY SWEET'. Which sounds quite nice but it wasn't really, and it sent full on shivers down my spine.
 It's probably because I'm such a:
Trips to Camborne are too few and far between. Always so much to see.

Puzzling

I recently found this puzzle that my Mum got made from a photograph of my brother and I when we were little. I was finding the whole thing very amusing, chuckling away until I realised that there were quite a few missing pieces... should I be upset that there are more pieces of me missing than George?

Holiday Favourites

Spent today sorting things out after a holiday in Greece last week
I left feeling very smug with my packing, where I managed to get about 20 different outfit combinations in to a carry on bag. Even with so many options there were 3 favourite pieces which got the most air time:
This lilac gingham dress is too see through and too short (my fault after attacking it with scissors) for London but was perfect over a bikini
This oversized (obese man's) shirt was the dream cover up
And my hat bought last minute from a charity shop in Devon wasn't off for very long

Brown Bags

The first is this brown leather fringed bag from a charity shop in Devon. May need a bit of careful styling to make it work but I'm hopeful. I like it as a clutch, as shown in the last picture.
The second bag is borrowed from Tessa and heralds the start of a long awaited holiday!!!
The day has finally come and I'm off on holiday tomorrow complete with a bursting bag. See you next week!
