Slowly starting the wardrobe swap over (last mentioned here). My favourite t-shirt of all time really comes in to its own during the summer months: a 1991 Neil Young Crazy Horse tour t-shirt. I LOVE everything about it - how it's faded and soft from time and washing, the artwork, Neil Young, and that I've inherited it from my Mum.

Tie-Dye Mania

There is no shortage of tie-dye clothing available at the moment: both the high street and designers are furiously peddling their take on the trend. I got quite heavily in to tie-dye last summer. My first attempt since childhood took place in Camberwell, see here. Min and I were hooked. Here we are a few months later in Portugal and up to our elbows in buckets of salt and dye.

It's a very fun, inexpensive project. If like me your white t-shirts don't stay that way for long, or your other half is chucking theirs out - save them up for a Dylon sink session. I get dye from eBay (or your local art shop, when it reopens), but the Dylon website is helpful to see the full range of colours.

Tie Dye

An afternoon spent at my friend Min's house a couple of weeks ago attempting to tie dye - with great results! We've got the bug - hopefully our friends and family like tie dye as I see all sorts handmade gifts coming their way...

Fashion at the Foreign Office

The most breathtaking and beautiful show from Molly Goddard this weekend at LFW, which took place at the Foreign Office in Whitehall. My photos don't begin to do it justice...

Edward Burne-Jones' Strong Footwear Game

Details from The Holy Grail Tapestries, 1890-4
Perseus and The Sea Nymphs, 1877
Very on-trend strappy leather sandals, chain mail ankle boots and feathered footwear - say what you like about Edward Burne-Jones but he had excellent taste in shoes.

Embroidered plastic bag

Browsing AnOther online is one of my daily habits, particularly when in need of a bit of inspiration
This embroidered plastic bag made me think of the embellished bags that Ashish put down the SS14 catwalk
I love these bags - such a great mix of playfulness and prettiness. Who wouldn't want a sequinned covered shopper?!

21 Tank

Check out my new trendy tank top from the £1 Traid sale

Also bought this skirt, which I quite like with the tank actually
For that classic mad woman look...
In the background is the real reason I went in to Traid, trying to pull some clothes for an upcoming test shoot...I am far too easily distracted, especially when everything is £1.

Camborne, Cornwall

I am in Cornwall at the moment where it is currently so windy that I've had to wedge the front door shut with my DM. Yesterday marked a trip to Camborne, where there was many a picture worthy sight:
I almost got fleeced of my money:
I remember a phase when cool cats wore fleeces with stuff like a howling wolf and rising moon on it, in a kind of ironic Native American/Pocahontas way. This shop in Camborne is definitely the place to go to pick one up at a bargain price - or to get your own take on that trend, puppies anyone?
This really weirded me out:
A shoe horn back scratcher. Look at that mini plastic hand! The guy behind the till also waved me goodbye saying, 'GOODBYE MY SWEET'. Which sounds quite nice but it wasn't really, and it sent full on shivers down my spine.
 It's probably because I'm such a:
Trips to Camborne are too few and far between. Always so much to see.

Katharine Hamnett

I was reminded of Katharine Hamnett's amazing black and white campaigns today. There are some really good ones
Hamnett's perhaps best known for her slogan protest T-Shirts, which she first made in the early 1980s and were worn and championed by popstars far and wide - that T-shirt in that Wham! video for example...
Here she is meeting Margaret Thatcher, who must have been trying very hard not to look at the blaring words of Hamnett's top.

Win

So that my latest purchase isn't thought of as COMPLETELY disgusting, it might be necessary to give a bit of background.
Perspex and PVC seem to be a real favourite of the fashion world at the moment

Maison Martin Margiela
Christopher Kane
I could post more pictures of (amazing but) incredibly expensive designer goods, but this has never been that kind of blog. Its much more this kind of blog:
 £1 shop, Shepherd's Bush

It's a bag, in a bag. Its PVC and camouflage. It's probably an acquired taste but I think it's great!! I've had to do a bit of cleaning (it wasn't exactly transparent when I bought it), but one Boots facial cleansing wipe later and it's good to go.
