Hannah's Room

Hannah's room reminds me of the dress up trunk my Mum made for me when I was little. It was full of endless treasures, and I still pull out things now that I reclaim and wear. It was Hannah's birthday recently and her room is full of newly acquired treasures, two of which are the Peter Pilotto Kipling bag from Tom, and new Russell & Bromley shoes from her parents. While riffling through Hannah's rails I found this amazing Jean Paul Gaultier dress which I've yet to convince her to wear. And just thought I'd show off a bit - the cowboy is my present to the birthday girl, I embroidered a transfer I bought in Minnesota this summer onto a pillow case.

Fleas

After hearing so many great things about Preston, Charlie and I decided to go for ourselves. The market was a mix of absolute crap and hidden gems, the best kind. Amongst my favourite buys was my Dave and Shirley nameplate bracelet (we are now a happy trio on my wrist), loads of gold tat earrings that are keeping my ears almost permanently sceptic and some Clockwork Orange gone-wrong glasses. The glasses sit in my tear ducts so I can't really wear them. You win some, you lose some I guess.

A Gift From Preston

Some friends went to Preston Flea Market at the break of dawn one day this week. Amongst the treasure was this Claddagh earring (only one) that Hannah picked from a tray of trinkets and gave to me. Its made my week. (Maybe month). Hannah also bought 3 pairs of socks for a pound - the Louis Vuitton ones are amazing.

Rosa has left London for Madrid today. I really love Madrid - I'm sure some of the main reasons I like it so much are due to family connections - my parents met there, my brother was born in Madrid. I reckon (hope) I have also discovered some of it for myself though too. The ladies in summer all have really deep tans and smooth shiny legs and almost always wear white. Impressive. And the men wear chinos and suede loafers and shirts and it actually looks good. I found a few photos I took on a brief trip earlier this summer.

Tessa's off to Carnival! I love this so much. Bug glasses and socks and see-through dress. No point in giving the floats a run for their money

Pebbles

Kate drove us to Brighton last week for a day and night by the seaside. It rained quite a lot, and was cold, but that felt kind of right for a British seaside resort. I liked Rosa's leopard print with the pebbles.

NEWS FLASH

I received a belated 21st birthday present today. My best friend bought me a Claddagh ring - an irish wedding ring, or token of friendship/love. Apparently (wikipedia) the Claddagh ring was first produced in the 17th century for Queen Mary II. The hands are said to represent friendship, the heart, love and the crown, loyalty. I've never seen one with a garnet set in it before. It's from a pawn shop in Shepherd's Bush market, and the guy was pretty much convinced Tessa and I were lesbians which was fun. I can't stop staring at it.

HAIR

I fancy a haircut. I'm in the mood for it, feeling brave/slightly rash. I'm thinking I might ask for the length of my hair to be halved. I really like shoulder length hair, that doesn't look really sleek and glossy and 'done'. Like in this Valentino autumn/winter '10 campaign. The dress looks a bit like (white) wetsuit material but the scalloped edges make up for it.

My friend Tessa reminded me about Patti Smith's hair. I love it too, but something tells me she'd carry off the beenupallnightbeingcrazyandwild look a little better than I could, sadly.
