Pinning

Every now and then I have a frenzied time pinning just about anything that I've collected over the past few weeks to the pin board in my room.  I've never been one for minimalism - despite all my best efforts.

This is my latest - a celebration of summer and thoughts of travel.

Pop

I saw the Richard Hamilton exhibition at the Tate today, where his 1962 painting (for snappy title see below) seemed  particularly relevant given the current trends in both men's and womanswear - and not least because London's fashion darlings were seated in the turbine hall below watching Topshop's show for Fashion Week.

Marching in to April

Leaving lots of room on my pinboard for an injection of inspiration with the coming of April. I've heard it said that inspiration does strike randomly but it has to find you busy and working. I think that's probably true... 

I love these photos by Peter Fraser torn from last month's Tate Magazine

 The washing line picture looks scarily close to what I have just experienced over the Easter bank holiday in the West Country....

Calendar Girl?

I started to make a calendar towards the end of last year for my Dad's birthday but ran out of steam and time... I have kept what progress I made and am keeping it on my bedside table. I will be sad when I get to September and my cobbled together calender runs out.

Photo Finish

I had a little while to burn before a meeting yesterday, so I swung by The Photographer's Gallery for a quick look round.

I'd forgotten that the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize was on. I shortlisted two, and enjoyed the work from Pieter Hugo

But what really caught my eye was the photo collage triptych by John Stezaker:

Found these images quite arresting, their titles definitely lent to their poignancy. I didn't realise that Stezaker had won the photography prize a few days ago. 

The exhibition closes this Sunday - worth checking out before it goes if you're in the area.

2006 sketchbook

I found this old sketchbook this evening and it made me realise that a new blank version should be purchased and filled steadily as a new year's resolution, so that I can continue ripping Vogue etc to shreds, just like the old days.

Collage

I wrote a post about Tessa's collage skills earlier this summer, with her CD cases. Her talent doesn't stop there - here is the card she made me for my 21st birthday

 Its looking quite shrine like in my room at the moment.

Hannah Goes Home

Hannah has finally moved back to Brixton for good after 3years in Manchester. It made me really happy that her room in London is as amazing as the one in our house up north. Could have spent hours in here looking at stuff.
