Fabric Samples For Quilts

An afternoon spent sorting out fabric samples, after collecting several bags full from a friend who was throwing them out of her studio recently. So excited to get sewing my next quilt!

Waxing floral

Working from home has been the norm for me for a long time. I lived with a florist for a few years and she often bought home fantastic blooms that made a day on the laptop much more enjoyable! I love these pillar candles from Tiger and have been steadily working through my store of them during lockdown. Worth bulk buying next time you come across them! Brilliant colours and nice and cheap.

Neon

Hot, late nights on holiday last summer... Taking inspiration from these colours on a grey day in London

Liverpool Cathedral

Two beautiful installations in Liverpool Cathedral at the moment. 'I Felt You And I Knew You Loved Me', a neon by Tracey Emin was installed in 2008 and sits beautifully alongside the stained glass windows which throw beautiful colours across the brickwork and floor of the Cathedral. The moon is temporary and touring the world, being displayed in various and often ingrouous settings. The surface of the moon displays NASA footage and is internally lit... I recommend catching it if you can, tour dates here. Together the moon and the neon are pretty magical. All accidentally stumbled across on a walk down memory lane earlier this week.

Clash

V in to a rowdy colour clash at the moment - which was particularly evident this week when I had to wear all black and felt like an imposter all day in my serious get up. Why look boring when you could look a bit nuts?

Neon Coin Purse

Last night I saw my lovely friend Hannah (see her 7days of style here), for a long overdue catch up. I was a bit distracted though, because I couldn't stop staring at her purse.

Edgware Road Mermaid

I ended up at the market on Church Street, off Edgware Road yesterday. It was a sunny afternoon, and it felt wrong to be indoors. It was great! There's a £1 rail!!!! (that's kind of it though, clothes wise) I bought two dresses....
One is a kind of faded neon green checked number, which I am enjoying wearing today with my glow in the dark neon green ring.
There were lots of fish stalls at the market
I liked looking at the clams and shiny scales. Luckily it wasn't warm enough to raise the fishy smell to dizzying heights. REALLY sure that Donatella et al didn't have Edgware road fish stalls, or any kind of fish stall in mind when designing these numbers, but nevertheless I was reminded of Versace SS12 mermaids and seashells, in a really good way

Glow Toes

Mum and I had our toes painted in fluro bright colours this weekend - just in time to cheer us up on rainy days. My orange nails seem to almost glow in the dark...
