Patti Pilgrimage // Utrecht

2019 has started well for travelling - Poland and Holland on consecutive weekends - not bad. I spent a very rainy weekend in Utrecht last month, while on a pilgrimage to see Patti Smith play. I was too excited to take any good photographs of the gig but here is some evidence of it...
We spent a lot of time in cafes sheltering from stormy elements - this felt fitting on a weekend dedicated to a woman who spends a lot of time drinking Nescafe worldwide.

Tessa's Smiths Tee

I got so many compliments when I borrowed this T-Shirt, and was even offered £100 for it! To which Tessa replied 'Tell her I'll be buried in it.'
We went to Salford Lad's Club a few years ago - made famous by Stephen Wright's black and white picture of the band:
We even had our own personal tour! The Salford lads who were there and using the club's facilities must have been a bit bemused.
Here we are trying to re-create the magic

Tessa's CDs

Tessa used to make me CDs all the time (pointed comment) and her case decoration was almost the best bit about these musical gifts. Oldest I could find is from 2006, can't wait to dig out some more gems that boast playlists of Usher and D12.

Hungry Heart

I found Dad's records in a dark corner of my room last week - he has an enviable collection. I have borrowed the two Bruce Springsteen albums and the Ian Dury record to decorate my room with until I grudgingly have to give them back. My music taste is entirely inherited from my parents really, Bruce ranks embarrassingly high on my play count.

Wu-HOO

Hannah took me to see Wu-Tang Clan a couple of nights ago. Cappadonna nodded to us as we were drinking our drinks before the gig started. Don't really know who he is, but stoked! I found these pictures of Hannah making Wu-Tang pancakes last Shrove Tuesday. I love how she is wearing my Morrissey tshirt while painting the W onto her pancake - eclectic music taste. I'm pretty sure we had some savoury options for pancake fillings but it doesn't look like it judging by the nutella, sugar, lemon and golden syrup scattered around the table. And Tdubb's favourite - Iron Bru to wash it all down.
