Autumn Updates

The purse strings are tightly drawn this coming season so my wardrobe updates are limited. I couldn't resist this shirt in my favourite print and this lovely lightweight jumper though.

1st Place Second Hand

One of my biggest pleasures in life is having an hour, a ten pound note, and access to a high street full of charity shops or bustling market. For many, the idea of picking ones way through rails of often slightly smelly and crumpled second hand clothing is at the bottom of their wish list on a day off – and granted, charity shop shopping has to be done in the right mood.
For me though, the feeling of finding something amazing hidden between casts offs from Primark, something old but better than anything new on the high street because it is unique, is hard to beat. Fashion - as we are so often told - goes in circles. Flares, straight legs and cigarette pants go in and out from season to season, and yet all can be found at the same time in one charity shop. It takes time and determination, but good quality second hand buys that make any outfit instantly different and individual, will always come first place with me.

What presents itself at a market or a charity shop is choice – a look has not been preconceived for you and carefully laid out in different sections of a shop. Instead the choice is yours, and the result is, I think, always better.

Rosa in 7 Days

I asked Rosa to send me a week's worth of outfits, as she is someone whose wardrobe I have always admired. I also asked her to let me know why she chose what to wear each day...
Sunday 4th September
Dress - Flea Market, South of France
Top - H&M
Boots - Office
I like the way you can faintly see the print of the dress through the top. I also like the little random pocket, might keep coins in it
Tuesday 5th September
Top - £3 second hand clothes shop in Manchester
Jeans - Silence and Noise
Boots - Office
Didn't realise this morning, but my socks match my shirt which makes me quite happy
Tuesday 6th September
Jumper - H&M
Shorts - Kimchi Blue at H&M
Boots - Office
Jacket - Topshop
I like how the split on my jumper meets the buttons of my shorts
Wednesday 7th September
Outfit One - Uniform at work (West Village, Notting Hill)
Outfit Two
Jumper - Joseph
Trousers - Zara
Trainers - Converse
Claddagh ring - birthday present
LOVE ring - Shepherd's Bush Market
Thursday 8th September
Lace sleeveless shirt - Vintage, Portobello
Jeans - Silence and Noise
Jumper - H&M
Bag - Zara
Newly dyed blue/gree hair tips
I love lace tops, but this is one of my favourites
Outfit for Vogue's Fashion Night Out:
Dress - (very old) Primark
Top - H&M
Friday 9th September
Top - H&M
Skirt - H&M
Boots - Office
Coat - Topshop
Painted my nails a new green which I really like with my skirt
Saturday 10th September
Top - Lace Vest nicked from Gran
Dress (worn under top) - Topshop
Leather Jacket - Oasis (very old)
Prom themed fancy dress party on Saturday night...
Hilariously contemplated wearing this, I'm thrilled I decided against it - the material squeaks when you walk. I bought it in a thrift shop in New York for Halloween and wore orange lipstick and purple eyelashes. Never again.
Final prom dress choice - Primark.
Sunday 11th September
TShirt - Petite Bateau
Jeans - £3 stall, Portobello
Denim scrunchie
Jacket - Comptoir des Cotonniers
The rain does suck, but it means you can wear jackets like this. I love autumn because its the perfect weather for jackets (winter too cold, summer to muggy).
