Dee's Heart

Really love this heart and key clasp on Dee's necklace, and was reminded today of a pair of earrings nowhere near as nice that I bought months and months ago on Brick Lane... Must remember to try and dig them out.

High Street Torcs

Reminded of my visit to Gold: Power and Allure exhibition by these Torc necklaces in H&M today...
I prefer the ancient ones, unsurprisingly.

Tegen Williams

Have you seen the latest One Off feature? Our most recent Style Profile takes a look inside the home of art student Tegen Williams, pictured above wearing a One Off silk jacket (also shown below).

Tegen's bedroom was a feast for the eyes, full of her own work as well as tons of interesting things to look at.
All features have been shot by the fantastic Lily Bertrand-Webb. Have a look at her work here.
Also new to the website is the start of our Summer Packages. Below is our first installment of these little bundles of joy - a hot pink linen beach dress, jelly rucksack and orange beaded bracelet.

Gold: Power and Allure

Last week I went to the private view of an exhibition I have been eagerly awaiting for many months
This astonishing exhibition at The Goldsmiths' Company showcases the story of gold in Britain, with treasures dating back as far as 2,500 BC. There is so much to see and in my case, gawp at, but with free admission there's no pressure to take it all in at once.
The entrance at exhibition were quite literally paved in gold for the private view.
They really knew what they were doing back in the day, and I was amazed at how contemporary some of the oldest pieces on display looked. Topshop, eat your heart out:

Loved the beautiful Torcs, or, 'neck-rings' as Wikipedia so elegantly describes them.

Happily for me, there were so many amazing rings... This one was a definite favourite. I wish I could remember more facts and interesting things to relay here, but I was entirely bowled over by the exhibition. And of course, that had nothing to do with sisterly pride...
Well done, George

Paisley Amber

This amber ring of my Mum's means business. Mum found the piece of amber and then got it made into a ring years ago in Camborne, Cornwall. I am borrowing it at the moment, and really love it with my 70s paisley teired dress. Which actually reminds me of Ferrero Rocher wrappers for some reason...really not sure why...
Not sure it's working with the white T-shirt underneath, but it's time to get some work done and I'm too lazy to take it off.

Watch

New watch found in an Age Concern charity shop one day last week. Its enormous, almost wider than my wrist. No excuse for being late now.

It really reminds me of one of Dali's melting watches. Not to be pretentious or anything...

Queen of the Jungle

I love my new earrings:
I never really wear any earrings that aren't tiny and gold, especially since being given little gold hoops for my birthday last year. I had forgotten how fun dangly earrings are to wear - I'm probably going to now build up a worrying large and Pat Butcher-like collection.
In my head these earrings channel great vibes like, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle:
And Taylor as Cleopatra....

One can dream eh?

Diva?

Apologies in advance for the quality of these pictures... These rings, all by 'Diva', or the jewellery section of Miss Selfridge, had the most unbelievably bad rings to offer the other day - so bad, they were SO GOOD. Such as, this cross
as well as lots of rings that require multiple fingers to be worn, like:

That's a pretty awkward situation if you wanted to high-five someone. All fingers encased by the lobster, bar one.
This little face was one of my favourites
But the best was definitely this

Despite their greatness though, I didn't buy any of them which is probably a good thing, and partly due to the fact that I'm so attached to the rings I already have and always wear like this beautiful one, borrowed from Mum.
Rings have been a long standing obsession of mine, from endless trips peering through pawn shop windows, and countless trips to 20p machines.

Heart Attack

I noticed today that I have a lot of heart jewellery. Is it time to start buying skulls and stuff now instead?

CRAZY DAISY

Was admiring Daisy a lot today. She had some real funky nail polish on, so great its called 'Gypsy Night', and this bangle that her Dad gave her from Nepal.

I LOVE YOU (DULVERTON)

I went to Devon for the weekend recently to stay with my friend Charlie. We took her dog for a walk one day and somehow ended up spending a long time in 'Lousie's', a tiny shop ran by an old couple in the front room of their house. They sold loads of crochet, amazing second hand rings (mostly garnets) and kitchen utensils (presumably their offcasts) in a basket for 5p. I found this spinner thing, its got broken lines on both sides and when you spin it, it spells I LOVE YOU, and Lousie's, I really do.

Fleas

After hearing so many great things about Preston, Charlie and I decided to go for ourselves. The market was a mix of absolute crap and hidden gems, the best kind. Amongst my favourite buys was my Dave and Shirley nameplate bracelet (we are now a happy trio on my wrist), loads of gold tat earrings that are keeping my ears almost permanently sceptic and some Clockwork Orange gone-wrong glasses. The glasses sit in my tear ducts so I can't really wear them. You win some, you lose some I guess.

NEWS FLASH

I received a belated 21st birthday present today. My best friend bought me a Claddagh ring - an irish wedding ring, or token of friendship/love. Apparently (wikipedia) the Claddagh ring was first produced in the 17th century for Queen Mary II. The hands are said to represent friendship, the heart, love and the crown, loyalty. I've never seen one with a garnet set in it before. It's from a pawn shop in Shepherd's Bush market, and the guy was pretty much convinced Tessa and I were lesbians which was fun. I can't stop staring at it.
